WE HAVE A STRATEGY THAT MAKES THE GLOBE BECOME EVEN GREENER.
As a company from the Sauerland, we live in the countryside and love nature.
And we do, of course, plant trees.
Trees absorb greenhouse gases, release oxygen and alleviate the effects of natural disasters, maintain biodiversity and increase the fertility of the soil. That's why we plant trees in our direct vicinity and why, as of 2022, we are now part of the WaldLokal community and we sponsor our own WaldLokal tree plantation.
Our woodlands are suffering, the landscape has changed dramatically, and many woodland areas have disappeared, leaving behind spaces which resemble more resemble the moon than our earth. It's time for us to do something about this. We are reforesting a mixed forest with a stable climate, filling in gaps in the landscape.
We reforest climate controlled

immediate surrounding.
We act sustainably
from the product development
to the manufacturing of the product.

We develop interchangeable solutions for lighting systems,
produce sustainably and recycle plastics in-house.
Replacement instead of waste - sustainable product concepts
The DNA of many of our products is their interchangeability. We have now also integrated an aspect that was once commonplace in conventional light sources. Replaceable components make it possible to repair products instead of replacing them. Retooling to components with a higher efficiency can also be performed quickly and simply.
Resource-efficient plastic recycling in-house
Plastic is a valuable raw material and is reusable. That's why BJB has set up a recycling system which grinds any excess plastic generated in the production unit and feeds it back into the production process as recycled granulate. Many of our products now already have a high content of recycled material, and all without affecting its function or appearance.
Sustainable heating with combined heat and power plant
BJB invested in a nearly 1 MW PV system in 2023 to produce even more of its own sustainable electricity. Already since 2014, BJB has been producing electricity and heat for internal use with a combined heat and power plant, the great benefit of which is the cogeneration of power and heat. These are important cornerstones in tackling climate change.
Sustainable cooling using water from the River Möhne
BJB is situated on the banks of the River Möhne, the waters of which have been used since 1999 to cool injection moulding machines, compressors and server rooms amongst other things. This way, we save all the electrical energy which would otherwise be needed to cool these areas. We consciously take advantage of our location by the water, and this has already saved us several tonnes of CO2.
We align our corporate culture in accordance with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
We see sustainability as a part of our responsibility. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations for the fields of economics, social issues and ecology are as ambitious as they are important. The agenda published in 2015 shows how we want to live in the future. For us, they are the guidelines on the way to meeting the demands of the present and of a sustainable future.
