Successful training round table at BJB: companies and schools in dialogue
The Training Round Table - an initiative for closer networking between companies and schools - took place for the fourth time. The aim of the event is to inform teachers about regional training opportunities and thus increase pupils' interest in vocational training.
Practical insight into training at BJB
This time, the company BJB in Arnsberg opened its doors to 14 teachers from ten schools in the Arnsberg, Sundern and Meschede regions. They were given the opportunity to gain practical insights into various technical apprenticeships. After a welcome from Managing Director Olaf Baumeister, who once began his own career with an apprenticeship at BJB, the teachers explored several stations that provided a comprehensive impression of the technical apprenticeships. Apprentices presented their professional fields, including tool mechanics, mechatronics engineers, plastics and rubber and production technologists. Visitors were not only able to gather theoretical information, but also experience practical skills and modern technologies up close in the areas of toolmaking, electrical workshop, assembly machines, metal and plastics processing. The career prospects after the apprenticeship were also clearly presented.
Interactive workshop: The future of vocational training
The practical insights were followed by an interactive workshop in which teachers and trainers discussed how the attractiveness of vocational training can be increased. The workshop focussed in particular on the role of schools, cooperation with companies and measures to improve the orientation of pupils. The lively discussions made it clear that both companies and schools recognise the need for action - and that the Training Round Table is a valuable platform for developing solutions.
Positive response and continuation of the initiative
The event was met with great enthusiasm by the teachers, who particularly appreciated the direct dialogue with trainers and trainees. BJB's high level of technological expertise and its strong commitment to promoting young talent were particularly emphasised. The Training Round Table will be continued in the future by the companies BJB, Interprint, Lübke & Vogt, SKS, TRILUX, VELTINS and WEPA. The aim remains to further intensify the dialogue between schools and companies, to continuously improve the quality of vocational training and to inspire young people for a career in technical, IT and commercial professions. If other schools are interested in our exciting and informative series of events, they are welcome to contact us company representatives from the Training Round Table, says Karin Barczewski-Vollmer from BJB.
