Fire department drill at BJB
On October 24, 2025, the Neheim fire brigade unit and the Voßwinkel fire group carried out a joint large-scale exercise on the premises of BJB GmbH & Co. KG in Neheim.
The training scenario simulated a fire on the roof of a production hall, caused by a short circuit during maintenance work on a photovoltaic system. Seven inverters caught fire, and the flames spread to an adjacent hall.
Three people were reported missing – two electricians on the roof and one employee in the hall – and were successfully rescued during the exercise. At the same time, a major firefighting operation was launched, with the Voßwinkel team establishing a stable water supply from the Möhne River.
After about one and a half hours, the exercise was completed. During the debriefing, fire brigade leader Jan Pater praised the cooperation and thanked the company BJB for its support. In return, the company thanked the firefighters for their professional work by inviting them to drinks and a barbecue.
Conclusion
The exercise clearly demonstrated the effective teamwork between the fire units and strengthened the preparedness for complex industrial fire incidents in the Arnsberg region.
